The British-Slovak SME Forum - Focus on Construction

On February 17, 2016 Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) was part of the British-Slovak SME Forum - Focus on Construction, bilateral cooperation between Great Britain and Slovakia with the aim to boost business connections, support business partnerships and to raise awareness of new business opportunities between Slovakia and the UK. 

The British - Slovak SME Forum - Focus on Construction, hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak republic, at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Bratislava, welcomed almost 100 participants. The audience, mostly construction business professionals, would hear about new business opportunities for companies in construction sector, driven by current positive environment in Slovakia, underpinned by a huge upcoming investment by Jaguar Land Rover in Nitra, Slovakia.

Christopher Plant, BCCSR Chief Executive, welcomed all guests and introduced the event agenda and continued with a short summary of BCCSR activities to support both Slovak and UK companies in their business growth. The first guest-speaker was Andrej Arady from the VUB Bank. Mr Arady gave a macroeconomic overview of the construction sector in Slovakia.

The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency represented by one of its senior consultants Milos Barčiakinformed the audience about the inward investments and introduced SARIO’s services provided to all potential and established investors, as well as the successful projects of the agency. He as well explained the topic of state incentives for all potential investors. The event continued with presentations from the company HESCON (a member of the ISA Association) and the Construction Chamber in the Slovak Republic, speaking about Legislation directives in Slovakia. The second part of the event was a panel discussion between:
STRABAG (headline sponsor) – a leading construction company gave a great overview of the company's main scope of business. HB Reavis, who are one of Central and Eastern Europe's leading commercial property groups was talking about their fully integrated business model covering development, construction, property and investment management, and Takenaka, currently one of the biggest and oldest design and construction companies in the world, would talk about their great experience across Asia and the globe. After a break the construction forum continued with a part dedicated to the UK industry sector overview and presentations of several UK companies looking for new business partners among Slovak industry professionals. Special guests from the UK: ABDW company, Latchways Plc., POLYSEAM & REIDSTEEL. The event was closed with an informal networking session.
