Business Mission to Taiwan

The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) in cooperation with the Taipei Representative office and the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic organized a business mission to Taiwan (China), Taipei on June 3—9, 2023.

The Slovak delegation consisted of 10 entrepreneurs, representatives of the academic community, as well as representatives of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, in addition to representatives of the Ministry of the Economy of the SR, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the SR and the Ministry of Education and Sport of the SR.

The priority goal of the business mission was getting to know the territory, establishing new business contacts and deepening the already started cooperation with Taiwanese partners.

SARIO consultant had the opportunity to present investment opportunities in. Subsequently about 60 bilateral business meetings between Slovak and Taiwanese entrepreneurs were held.

In addition to visits to companies and research institutions in the field of information-communication technologies, semiconductors, electrotechnical industry or sustainable resources, members of the delegation had the opportunity to participate in the networking event organized by Bruno Hromy, representative of the Slovak Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei.

The mission is evaluated as a success, as the Slovak company Sensoneo received a series A investment support of 6.2 million euros, which will support its foreign expansion and strengthen its position on global markets. The largest share of the investment came from the Taiwania Capital fund. Taiwania Capital is a venture capital fund known for its interest in technology companies and Series A investments.

In addition, the Slovak company Continium technologies also had successful negotiations with the Taiwania Capital fund, as the EU state aid commission approved Continium technologies an important project of common European interest (IPCEI) to support research, innovation and the first industrial deployment of microelectronics and communication technologies.

In connection with this mission, the SARIO agency is already preparing a business program for the delegation from Taiwan to Slovakia in the fall of 2023 in cooperation with the Ministry of the Economy of the SR.
