Investment seminar “Developing Your Business in CEE”

On June 23 – 24, 2014 the representatives of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) accomplished a business trip to the United Kingdom where along with minister of economy of the Slovak Republic Mr. Tomáš Malatinský participated on meetings with British companies and presented Slovak business environment at the investment seminar organized in cooperation with the Embassy of the SR in London, the British Slovak Business Centre and Squire Patton Boggs.

The United Kingdom is one of the most powerful economies in the world with great investment and trade potential. SARIO already registers several investment opportunities from the territory and therefore organization of the investment seminar in London was very well received on both sides.
On Monday 23^rd representatives of SARIO accompanied Tomáš Malatinský, the Minister of the Economy of the SR at the business breakfast organized by the City of London. The event took place in the historical premises of Guildhall where more than 20 representatives of well-known financial institutions had a chance to discuss current situation and investment possibilities on the Slovak market.

 Afternoon seminar “Developing Your Business in CEE” took place at the premises of Squire Patton Boggs with participation of over 25 companies from the United Kingdom, mostly from IT and R&D sector. Welcome notes were delivered by Peter Crossley, Squire Managing Partner at Sanders Boggs and H.E. Miroslav Wlachovský, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the United Kingdom. Tomáš Malatinský then presented the strengths of the Slovak economy with the positive forecast to the future.

Christopher Plant, CEO of British Slovak Business Centre described investment climate in region of CEE following by Roman Sabo, the Head of SARIO Investment Division with his presentation about investment environment in Slovakia – Business Friendly Slovakia. The success stories of British companies established in Slovakia were provided by John Rossall, the Director of offset programs of BAE Systems and Greg Willetts, Consultancy Director of AMEC.

The seminar was a great opportunity to establish new connections with potential investors in order to follow the example of successfully established British companies in Slovakia such as BoxPerfect, Amylum Slovakia, DS Smith, etc.
