Meeting of the Honorary Consuls of the Slovak Republic

The seventh Meeting of the Honorary Consular Offices organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic took place from the 18th to 20th May, 2015.

Slovakia was visited by more than hundred honorary consuls from approximately forty countries. During the entire visit the Honorary consuls had the opportunity to meet with numerous representatives of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Transport, SARIO, Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as mayors and regional representatives.

The main objective of the event was to evaluate existing activities of Honorary Consuls of Slovakia, discuss further possibilities for mutual co-operation and create a platform for exchanging experiences.
 
The event started in Bratislava at the Bôrik Hotel with an official welcome and continued with round table discussions about various topics such as trade, investment, tourism, innovation, science and R&D. The round table was also attended by representatives of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) who contributed particularly to the first two topics.
 
The last day of the visit was dedicated to the presentation of Slovak regions (Trencin, Nitra and Bratislava region) with the focus on tourism, business, investment, culture and environment.
The Slovak business environment as well as the investment opportunities in Nitra and Trencin regions were introduced by SARIO representatives.

The event continued with bilateral meetings during which companies and honorary consuls exchanged information about various business opportunities in selected countries.
