On November 6, 2014 the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic has organized the 6th Annual International Conference the Kosice Invest 2014 in the capital of Eastern Slovakia. Each year, government representatives, business leaders and international stakeholders get together to evaluate the potential growth segments and competitive sectors of Eastern Slovakia and to trigger discussion leading to improved awareness of the region’s potential. This year’s event was especially unique, since it brought in topics focusing on the export perspective of the city of Kosice, especially emphasizing the export of IT services and other related activities. The Slovak Investment and Trade Development agency (SARIO) was represented by Roman Sabo, Director of the Investment Division. Sabo was speaking about how the state supports export by also attracting more investors into the Kosice region and emphasizing the location perceived as a gateway to the East. The agency SARIO registers an increased number of interested companies assessing both the city of Kosice and the region, eventually considering relocation from neighboring countries. In addition, the recently announced project of Air Berlin in Kosice should also contribute to the region’s attractiveness.
