On 18th - 19th May 2016, the Slovak Investment and Trade Development agency actively participated at the well-known logistics conference SpeedCHAIN organized in Modra.Reliant Group, having a decade long experience of organizing this well-known logistics conference in Czech Republic, decided to bring the event, in co-operation with the magazine Transport and Logistics for the first time to Slovakia. With the Slovak economy on the rise, mostly supported by the booming automotive industry, a crucial aspect of logistics and transportation must be put in the context of continuous and sustainable growth.On behalf of SARIO, Mr. Milan Gavlák, the Head of the Strategic Projects Department delivered a presentation on the topic Why to Invest In Slovakia, Growth of the Slovak Economy and Importance of Logistics With a Focus On the Automotive Industry. Mr. Gavlák emphasized the essential facts why Slovakia is one of the fastest growing economies in Europe and by trusting the capabilities of Slovak people it could achieve much more in the future. During the panel discussion, Mr.Gavlák had been challenged by few questions mostly related to the negotiation process with Jaguar Land Rover representatives. The answer to a question regarding the most decisive factor at the end of the negotiation process with JLR was “professionality and flexibility of the Slovak project team”.During the panel discussion, stakeholders concluded the sector is constantly growing but with a potential for improvement and innovation. On the other hand, still many challenges prevail related to European and Slovak legislation in logistics and transportation.The first SpeedCHAIN SLOVAKIA conference offering a wide variety of topics broken down to case studies, Q&A sessions, B2B and networking achieved its goal to draw attention to current issues and challenges in the sector, but also how innovation and suggested potential solutions may improve the level of provided services and attract more investments to Slovakia in this field.
