SARIO agency assists in the relocation of highly qualified workers from third countries Since July 2022, the Regulation No. 269/2022 Coll. of the Slovak Government on the interest of the Slovak Republic in granting national visas to relocated third country nationals and their family members has been in force. It is the result of the long-term effort of the SARIO agency to simplify the access of highly qualified labour to the Slovak labour market.From Slovakia's point of view, the main objective was to increase the competences and competitiveness of the Slovak operations of international companies through the relocation of highly qualified employees from their subsidiaries in third countries. In several cases, these are companies with strategic importance and long-term presence in Slovakia. "This regulation has a unique feature of shaping the labour market towards higher added value, with multiplicative effects arising from the creation of highly qualified and above-average paid jobs as well as the additional consumption and savings of relocated employee’s family members. At the same time, it is necessary to emphasize that these positions would not arise as vacancies that could potentially be filled by Slovak citizens, since relocations are aimed at obtaining a specific person with specific practice and experience from another subsidiary of an international company," explained Robert Šimončič, CEO of SARIO. The approval process of the submitted list lasts for 8 calendar days on average.By the end of February 2023, the SARIO agency records the registration of 257 persons on the relocation lists of 16 companies. Thanks to an efficient inter-ministerial collaboration, it is now possible to relocate highly qualified workforce and their family members from third countries in a very short time. Since the regulation enter into force, a positive reaction from the business sector has been encountered.
