World of the Cyber Security met in Tel Aviv with presence of Slovak business delegation

Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency together with Slovak companies attended one of the most prestigious exhibitions in the area of cyber security - Cybertech 2017 which took place on January 31 - February 1, 2017 in Tel Aviv. The Slovak University of Technology, 11 ICT companies along with the Slovak IT Association, all led by the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) accompanied the Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Informatization, Peter Pellegrini, on his official visit to Israel.

In the Israeli capital Tel Aviv Cybertech 2017 brought together the world community from the area of cyber security. Several distinguished speakers appeared at the conference, including the governor of Massachusetts (USA) Rick Snyder, the CEO of CISCO Chuck Robbins, and the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. The Deputy Prime Minister for Investments and Informatization of Slovakia Peter Pellegrini also gave a speech. All the speakers emphasized the importance of protection of the vital information infrastructure against cyber attacks.

Particularly today, in times of the internet of things and cloud solutions, internet as well as off-net systems are becoming very vulnerable. Attack on these systems can have far-reaching consequences in various areas of daily life and can impact the whole society, that is dependent on them. The Slovak Deputy Prime Minister in his presentation linked the challenges of cyber security to the automotive industry. He noted that autonomous vehicles, which are now becoming a reality, must be designed from the onset in such a way that they are ready to face these challenges.  

On January, 31 during Cybertech 2017 SARIO organized Slovak-Israeli Business Meeting. It was attended by 40 Israeli companies, potential partners for Slovak attendees of the mission. Among the most prominent of these were CYGOV, which offers security solutions and consulting for governments all over the world; Checkpoint, a global leader in solutions against cyber attacks; CHECKMARX, working in automated code control; and Cyberbit, a cyber security - subsidiary of the defense industry giant Elbit Systems.

The business delegation also attended the official opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Slovak Republic in Haifa. The new Honorary Consul, Yossi Pickel, is a respected personality of the ICT community in Israel and this fact may expand the options and opportunities of Slovak businessmen and start ups in this world hub of the ICT industry. 

The Slovak business delegation and the Deputy Prime Minister also visited the Matam Park - technology park in Haifa. It is the Israeli headquarters of some of the world’s most significant players in the ICT sector, a place of research and development in cooperation with top universities from Israel and from around the world. A biofarmaceutical start up, Pluristem, was presented to the Slovak delegation.

The economic diplomat of Slovak Embassy in Tel Aviv together with the Slovak Honorary Consul, who is also chairman of the Israeli- Slovak Chamber of Commerce, significantly contributed to the successful presence of Slovak companies at the Cybertech 2017 conference, as well as to the organization of the Israeli- Slovak Business Meeting.
