Change on the position of the SARIO top representative

Minister of Economy and Construction of the Slovak Republic Mr. Juraj Miškov recalled Mr. Robert Šimončič from his position of the Assigned Chief Executive Officer of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO). In the same time the Minister temporarily designated to the position Ms. Andrea Gulová, since 2009 the director of the foreign direct investment section of SARIO agency. She has worked in SARIO since 2004. Andrea Gulová will temporarily run the agency SARIO until the new Chief Executive Officer will be selected in an official tender.

Introduction of SARIO Assigned Chief Executive Officer at the AmCham Business breakfast

The introduction of the boss of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) Robert Simoncic took place at the presence of the President of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Michael Smyth, the Executive Director of AmCham Jake Slegers and other members of the Chamber. This event was connected with the discussion on the topic: “How can Slovakia Boost its Investment Opportunities?” According to Mr Simoncic, SARIO first of all needs to define its clear position and competencies based on which it will be able to create its new strategy. In this context he also mentioned the importance of clarification and simplification of processes, for example in receiving state aid, and he also stressed the need of continuous improvement of the business environment. “Slovakia currently needs new jobs therefore their creation has to be in the focus of all our efforts“, said Rober Simoncic. The decisive factor in process of investment attraction is not the salary level but rather geographical location and the infrastructure development. „The key factor should not be the localization of the investment but rather the quality of conditions that the individual regions might offer“, said Mr. Simoncic and he added that the precondition of the success is the effective communication with the regional administration and municipalities. He also said that in his opinion the role of specialization and sector targeting, especially R&D or high value added sectors would continually grow. While attracting foreign investors it is necessary to think about domestic investors as well, since they play an important part in the development of local capital. As for the aim of FDI attraction, SARIO plans to focus as well on the needs of established investors as well. Besides the new FDI influx, SARIO aims in its strategy to focus on satisfying the needs of established investors. Since for the Slovak economy are important not only the investors that came through SARIO, but all investors; the next task of the agency will be to map all implemented investment projects in Slovakia: “It is necessary in order to flexibly react to the current investors needs and help them in their possible expansion,“ said Robert Simoncic. To achieve these new goals and finish all tasks, SARIO will need strong and responsible partners as chambers of commerce, universities, self-governing regions, municipalities, clusters etc., which will provide necessary feedback.

Slovak – Dutch cooperation in the aviation industry

Business mission of the representatives of Dutch aviation industry with the active participation of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency took place on the premises of the company Letecke opravovne Trencin, a.s., (LOTN). The representatives of aviation association NAG from Holland and the representatives of its member companies met with SARIO representatives, top management of LOTN, the representatives of Trencin City, Trencin Self-governing Region, University of Alexander Dubcek in Trencin and Slovak business subjects. The bilateral negotiations of Slovak and Dutch companies and organizations followed in program after the presentations of all subjects. These negotiations should mark the beginning of future cooperation in aviation industry between Slovakia and Holland.

Memorandum of cooperation with the Self-Governing Region Banska Bystrica

SARIO Assigned Chief Executive Robert Simoncic signed the Memorandum of Cooperation with the Chairman of the Self-Governing Region Banska Bystrica Vladimír Maňka.

Business mission of Slovak companies

On the invitation of the Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Serbia – Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RS), the business mission of the Slovak companies to Banja Luka took place on June 14 – 16 2010. The business mission was prepared by the SARIO agency in cooperation with the Embassy of the SR in Sarajevo, Cabinet of the Chairman of the Parliament of the RS, Ministry for economic relations and regional cooperation of the RS and the Economic Chamber of the RS.

SARIO at the Norwegian-Slovak Business Forum

The Slovak Trade and Investment Development Agency prepared together with the Embassy of the SR in Norway and German – Norwegian Chamber of Commerce the Norwegian – Slovak Business Forum. SARIO agency was represented by Mr. Juraj Haško who presented business and investment environment of the Slovak Republic focusing on the export of Slovak products to Norway as well as on attracting more Norwegian investment into the Slovak republic.

Mr. Juraj Kiesel has been recalled by the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic Mr. Lubomir Jahnatek from his position of the Chief Executive Officer of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO). In the same time the Minister of Economy declared Mr. Robert Simoncic Assigned Chief Executive Officer of SARIO. Juraj Kiesel is currently preparing for his activities in the diplomatic service.

International machinery Cooperation Day – Engineering 2010

SARIO and BIC Bratislava organized on the premises of Exhibition Area AGROKOMPLEX, Nitra International Machinery Cooperation Day – Engineering 2010, the accompanying event of the 17th International Machinery Fair. 137 companies accepted invitation to the International Machinery Cooperation Day – Engineering 2010, out of these 93 were Slovak and 44 from abroad (from Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, Switzerland and Great Britain).

Cooperation with the University of Economics

The Cooperation Agreement between SARIO and the University of Economics in Bratislava has been signed by SARIO CEO Mr. Juraj Kiesel and the Rector of the University of Economics in Bratislava Mr. Rudolf Sivak.

French support for the 4th Slovak Matchmaking Fair

Slovakia is returning to the economic growth OECD

“Slovakia is returning to the economic growth at relatively healthy levels,“ said economist of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Pier Carlo Padoan in the meeting with the Prime Minister Robert Fico. OECD, just like the European Commission, envisions Slovakia in 2010 among the countries with the highest economic growth in the EU.

Opening of the Honorary Consulate in Texas

The new Honorary Consul of Slovakia to Texas is Mr. Martin Valko, an attorney and a representative of the immigration law firm Chavez & Valko, LLP.

Slovak Indonesia Business Forum

As a part of the second meeting of the Slovak-Indonesian intergovernmental commission (MVK) for the economic cooperation in Bratislava, the accompanying Slovak-Indonesian Business Forum with the participation of 12 Indonesian companies and 24 Slovak business subjects took place. This event was based on 30 coordinated bilateral meetings.The Business Forum had been organized by the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency SARIO and SOPK Bratislava Office in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of the SR and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia.

Hannover Fair 2010

International Machinery Fair took place on April 19 – 23 2010 in Hannover, Germany. The partnership country of the fair was Italy. Although the transportation collapse of the international aviation transport had the impact on the representation of the companies, it did not hinder the importance and quality of this event that was the showcase of traditional industries connected with machinery dominated by the alternative options of hybrid engines, use and new trends in wind, thermo and electric energy, use of alternative materials in machinery (ceramics, tempered plastics etc.) as well as the latest trends in nanotechnology, automatization and development of machines.
