Business and economic opportunities in Algeria

Business and economic opportunities in Algeria

The territorially focused webinar organized by the SARIO agency, which took place on Monday, May 25, 2026, focused this time on introducing the foreign market of Algeria. It is with this very country that we are experiencing a new impulse in intensifying bilateral relations, in the context of the establishment of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Algiers and, reciprocally, the Embassy of Algeria in Bratislava.

The country ranks among the largest and most important economies in the North African region. Thanks to its strategic location, rich natural resources, and extensive government programs aimed at economic diversification, Algeria represents an attractive gateway to the African continent. With a population of over 47 million, the Algerian market offers a dynamically developing environment with a growing demand for modern technologies, innovations, industrial know-how, and high-quality foreign products and services, while the new Algerian investment law significantly improves conditions for foreign investors.

The webinar program was opened by Daniel Ondruš, Director of the Foreign Trade Department of the SARIO agency, together with Zuzana Ščepánová, the Economic Diplomat at the Slovak Embassy in Algiers. On the Algerian side, opening remarks were delivered by Elyes Saifi, First Secretary of the Embassy of Algeria, and Ogba Mahfoud, Director attached to the Office of the Director-General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI).

The main content of the webinar was the presentation of the Algerian market, the local business environment, including support for entrepreneurs, and potential sectors for cooperation. According to the AAPI presentation, delivered by Houamdia Kamilia, Administrative Analyst, the most promising sectors include energy, mining and renewable resources, agricultural technologies, ICT, industry, and pharmaceuticals. Specific details regarding individual sectors are included in the AAPI presentation available at this link.
