GlobalTags Business mission National Project Support for SMEs Tanzania Kenya News Teritórium Keňa Tanzánia The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency, through its National Project Department and Foreign Trade Department, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Nairobi, and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Dar es Salaam, organized a business mission to Kenya and Tanzania from June 8 to 11, 2026. The mission was part of the national project “Support for the Internationalization of SMEs 2,” implemented under the Slovakia Program. The Slovak delegation consisted of 35 companies and institutions with a multisectoral focus, including agriculture and the food industry, green technologies in the fields of water management, climate, and energy; modern urbanization and electromobility technologies; digitalization and cybersecurity; the healthcare industry; and the defence industryThe mission’s goal was to support Slovak companies’ entry into the rapidly growing African market and to enable them to present their goods, services, and solutions abroad in order to attract business partners and customers. The business mission began with the Kenya-Slovakia Business and Development Forum, which took place in Nairobi on June 9, 2026, and featured not only interesting presentations but also a development panel on the topic “Linking Development Cooperation with the Business Sector – Best Practices” and the signing of two memorandums of understanding between SARIO and KEPSA, and between SARIO and Invest Kenya. The forum was opened by Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, and Rebecca Miano, Minister of Tourism and Wildlife of Kenya. This was followed by pre-arranged B2B meetings with Kenyan companies, attended by more than 200 participants. The companies also had the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Kenyan Ministry of Defence and the UNDP, to whom they presented areas of mutual interest regarding selected projects.The second day was devoted to two important visits—in the morning, the companies visited Tatu City, a 5,000-acre mixed-use special economic zone in the greater Nairobi metropolitan area and a flagship project of the Kenya Vision 2030 plan. It is an emerging project that encompasses housing, services, business opportunities, as well as educational institutions and recreational activities. The Slovak companies had the opportunity to meet with representatives of Tatu City and several business representatives, and they also took a tour of the city. Later, the delegation travelled to downtown Nairobi, to Equity Bank, where they were welcomed by bank representatives who provided information on opportunities to use banking services and held meetings with partners.The third day of the mission took place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where an extensive program had been organized. The day began with a presentation by the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), during which the companies learned more about the investment environment and opportunities for cooperation. This was followed by the official opening of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Dar es Salaam, which was jointly inaugurated by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania. The business delegation was invited to a working lunch hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation of the United Republic of Tanzania, where they once again had the opportunity to hold discussions with partners and forge new partnerships. In the afternoon, the program continued seamlessly with the Tanzania–Slovakia Business Forum, which was once again opened by Juraj Blanár, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, together with his counterpart, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania. This was followed by presentations by various institutions and B2B meetings, in which nearly 40 Tanzanian companies participated. The day concluded with a networking reception where discussions continued.The business mission provided a wealth of opportunities to introduce and showcase Slovak companies, as well as opportunities for business negotiations in both Kenya and Tanzania. We believe that these growing markets will be further successful territories where Slovak companies can find business partners and expand their commercial activities.
