Business mission to Vietnam

Business mission to Vietnam

The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), in cooperation with the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Hanoi, organized a business mission to Vietnam on the occasion of the official visit of the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, R.  Fico. The mission took place from 12 to 15 April 2026.

The Slovak delegation consisted of 50 companies (60 representatives), primarily operating in the sectors of information and communication technologies, energy, engineering, food industry, defence, and healthcare. The waste management sector was also represented.

The working programme in Hanoi began with a presentation of the Vietnamese business environment delivered by the Central and Eastern European Chamber of Commerce at the premises of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic. This was followed by the Slovak–Vietnamese Business Forum, held in the presence of the Prime Ministers of both countries, which confirmed the growing importance of bilateral cooperation, also highlighted by the signing of seven memoranda of cooperation.

Among the speakers at the forum were Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nguyen Quang Vinh and Director General of SARIO Egon Zorád. The presentation on Slovakia’s business and investment environment was delivered by SARIO’s posted expert in Shanghai, Lukáš Merga.

The official programme was followed by B2B meetings, during which Slovak companies held 120 meetings with approximately 200 Vietnamese counterparts.

The following working day continued with a visit to FPT Corporation, the largest Vietnamese investor in Slovakia, operating mainly in IT services, telecommunications, and education. In the afternoon, the business delegation moved to Ho Chi Minh City, where the second Slovak–Vietnamese Business Forum took place the next day, attended by the Minister of Culture of the Slovak Republic Martina Šimkovičová and State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic Vladimír Šimoňák. The presentation on Slovakia’s business environment was delivered by SARIO’s posted expert in Seoul, Michal Dutko. The forum also featured intensive B2B meetings, attended by nearly 40 Slovak and more than 100 Vietnamese companies, resulting in approximately 100 business meetings. The event was held at Friendship Tower, a significant investment with Slovak participation and a natural contact point for Slovak companies entering the Vietnamese market.

The main partner in organizing both forums was the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, with which SARIO has had a Memorandum of Cooperation in place since 2016.

The business programme culminated in participation at the European Night 2026, organized by EuroCham Vietnam in cooperation with several European chambers of commerce. The networking event was attended by approximately 200 entrepreneurs, including both Vietnamese and European investors.

The European Night 2026 event marked the successful conclusion of the business mission, after which the Slovak delegation returned to Slovakia.

SARIO played a key role throughout the mission, particularly in the comprehensive preparation of the business mission and its accompanying programme, participant registration, and overall organizational coordination of the delegation. It also contributed to the preparation and coordination of business forums, ensured presentations on Slovakia’s business environment, identified relevant business and institutional partners, and facilitated and organized B2B meetings.

The business mission to Vietnam confirmed the growing mutual interest in strengthening economic cooperation between Slovakia and Vietnam. Through its activities, SARIO significantly contributed to creating new business opportunities and strengthening the presence of Slovak companies in the promising Vietnamese market.
