Innovators want to go to Silicon Valley

Slovak start-up development program of SARIO and competition Startup Awards provoked uproar among young entrepreneurs. Over 37 innovative projects applied for the chance to get the internship at the prestigious business incubator.

The ceremony of first ever Startup Awards will take place on 17 November 2011 in Bratislava. Demanding selection process will be completed by gala evening during which the jury will declare four most innovative companies from Slovakia. The main prize for the winners is the three month stay in the Plug and Play Tech Center in Silicon Valley in the U.S. provided by SARIO within the Slovak Start-up Development Program. The winners will receive the unique access to investors, mentors and will be helped to develop their companies.

Among the registered startups are dominating technology projects and prototypes of mobile applications.

"The main objective of the Slovak Startup Development Program is to create a mechanism for the promotion and development of Slovak companies based on innovation and technology in order to simplify their future entry into the global market."says Robert Šimončič, SARIO CEO.

  "We were positively surprised by the quality and quantity of startup entries. For many of them the Startup Awards.SKprovided the necessary motivation to become visible," suggests Ivan Štefunko, Neulogy. This company acts as a professional expert of the competition.

The competition Startup Awards.SK is supported by companies Dell and KPMG. Dell is the general partner of the competition and KPMG acts as the main partner.
