International Procurement Seminar in Vienna 2026

On 9–10 June 2026, the third edition of the International Procurement Seminar took place in Vienna, focusing on supporting companies interested in participating in procurement process within the United Nations system. Building on the success of previous editions, the seminar once again confirmed the growing interest of Slovak companies in business opportunities offered by international organizations.

The event was organized by SARIO in cooperation with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Vienna, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Vienna, the Embassy of Hungary in Vienna, and CzechTrade. The main objective of the seminar was to provide companies with up-to-date information on UN procurement procedures and to facilitate direct contacts with procurement officers from international organizations.

SARIO played an active role in the preparation and implementation of the event, including company outreach, participant communication, on-site organizational support, and the presentation of the agency’s services in the areas of business internationalization, export development, and investment support. Representatives of SARIO also used the opportunity to meet with officials from international organizations, partner institutions, and business representatives from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, helping to expand professional networks and identify new business opportunities for Slovak companies.

The seminar programme featured expert presentations, panel discussions, and individual B2B meetings with representatives of international organizations. Participants gained valuable insights into the current procurement needs of UN agencies, upcoming changes in procurement procedures, and registration opportunities through the United Nations Global Marketplace (UNGM), the platform through which the vast majority of procurement within the UN system is conducted.

The event brought together 120 company representatives from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Hungary, as well as 77 representatives of international organizations, including 15 UN agencies and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). Over the course of two days, approximately 350 bilateral meetings were held, enabling companies to present their products and services directly to potential buyers and receive feedback from procurement experts.

The positive feedback from participants highlighted the importance of such events in fostering international trade and strengthening the competitiveness of Slovak companies. Direct engagement with procurement officers from international organizations provides a unique opportunity to better understand procurement requirements and prepare more effectively for participation in international tenders.
