GlobalTags News Foreign trade Cooperation events Austria On March 18, 2026, the 3rd annual Matchmaking Fair with Austrian Commercial Agents took place, organized by the Federal Association of Commercial Agents of the Austrian Economic Chamber (WKÖ). The event was co-organized by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Vienna, the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), the Bratislava Regional Chamber of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK), and the Slovak-Austrian Chamber of Commerce (SOHK).Sectorally, the event focused primarily on engineering, woodworking, food processing, medical technology, and ICT, though other industrial sectors were also represented. The main objective of the fair was to introduce the specifics of the Austrian market to Slovak entrepreneurs and help them establish direct business contacts with Austrian agents.The event was opened by H.E. Jozef Polakovič, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to Austria. On behalf of the SARIO agency, its CEO, Egon Zorád, addressed the participants. “The Matchmaking Fair with Austrian commercial agents is a stable part of supporting Slovak-Austrian economic cooperation. Austria is one of Slovakia's key trading partners, with mutual exchange growing in the long term and reaching more than 8 billion euros per year. That is why we systematically focus on supporting Slovak companies in entering the Austrian market - from organizing professional seminars to specific B2B negotiations. These are the most effective tool for turning contacts into real business results and new partnerships.”The opening session of the professional program featured presentations on Slovak-Austrian trade exchange and an analysis of the most frequently traded commodities. Of particular benefit were the expert lectures focused on the practical functioning of the commercial agent system in Austria and the legislative aspects of international trade. The success of the event is evidenced by the participation of 95 Slovak and 21 Austrian representatives, who completed a total of 130 individual B2B meetings and dozens of meetings during networking.Photo: Michal Zajaček
