Michalovce-based Unomedical is expanding its production with a completely new project focused on manufacturing advanced insulin delivery devices.

On May 27, 2026, the expansion of the Michalovce plant of the British medical products manufacturer was announced. The investment, amounting to nearly €97 million, will create 221 high-value-added jobs.

The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) assisted the investor starting in June 2025, when investment aid options were discussed. The company was granted investment aid totaling €24.1 million in the form of corporate income tax relief.

The existing facility, which focuses on advanced wound care, ostomy care, critical care, and infusion devices, will expand to include the production of advanced insulin delivery devices intended for patients with diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and chronic pain. Production is scheduled to begin in October 2027, with full planned capacity expected to be reached by March 2029. All production will be exported within the European Economic Area (EEA), with products distributed through the parent group Convatec’s distribution network.
