Slovakia presented its investment and technological potential at CIFIT 2026

SARIO’s China-based Investment Promotion Expert (VES) Lukáš Merga and Michal Körmendi, Deputy Director of SARIO’s Investment Projects Department, participated in the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT 2026), held in Xiamen, Fujian Province, from 7 to 11 September 2026.

CIFIT is a major Chinese event focused on investment and international economic cooperation, bringing together representatives of the public sector, investment and trade promotion agencies, multinational companies, investors and technology companies from China and other countries. This year’s programme once again featured expert conferences, thematic forums, investment presentations and networking events. For Slovakia, the fair provided an opportunity to present its investment and business environment, as well as its potential for technological cooperation.

Slovakia was represented at CIFIT 2026 through a 36 m² SARIO national stand, which featured six Slovak companies: ARPenviro – environmental services, green technologies, energy and emissions; Logis One by IAD Investments & Sibareal – industrial development; PANGEANA Europe – export and education; Lisicky Investment Consulting & Vino Peter Lisicky – consulting, investment and wine; LUCEON – railway technologies, medical technologies and industrial automation; and Edgar Baker – international HR and outsourcing services. The national stand provided an opportunity to present the Slovak investment and business environment and to hold direct discussions with representatives of Chinese companies and other potential partners.

Expert presentations and B2B meetings were an important part of the programme. SARIO’s China-based Investment Promotion Expert Lukáš Merga presented Slovakia as an attractive investment destination at the Global Business Lounge at CIFIT – European Countries Investment Roadshow, highlighting opportunities for investment and business cooperation. The presentation was followed by individual B2B meetings with Chinese companies. He also presented the advantages of the Slovak economy at the International Low-Altitude Industry Matchmaking Conference, focused on drones, low-altitude technologies and related industrial solutions, where he discussed Slovakia’s potential to become a strategic hub for the development of this industry in Europe.

The 26th edition of CIFIT was held for the first time at the newly built Xiamen International Expo Center. The event attracted participants from 129 countries and regions and more than 100,000 visitors.

Xiamen is one of the important economic centres of Southeast China and an important platform for international trade, investment and financial services. In 2025, the city’s GDP reached RMB 898.0 billion, while its foreign trade volume reached a record RMB 960.0 billion. Xiamen Port also plays an important role. Thanks to its industrial base, international connectivity and open investment environment, Xiamen provides a suitable setting for CIFIT, which connects Chinese and international investors, businesses and public-sector representatives.
