GlobalTags News Foreign trade Webinar China The Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), in cooperation with the Consulate General of the Slovak Republic in Shanghai and the China IP SME Helpdesk, organized a webinar on the topic of Intellectual Property Protection at Trade Fairs in China, which took place on May 14, 2025.The event was organized in connection with the upcoming participation of Slovak exhibitors at NINGBO EXPO 2025 and was primarily intended for companies involved in this mission. However, the webinar was also open to the wider business community interested in the Chinese market. The topic of intellectual property (IP) protection is especially relevant in the context of trade fairs in China. As the world’s second-largest economy and a technologically advanced market, China offers companies significant business opportunities. At the same time, it presents serious challenges in terms of protecting innovations, designs, brands, and patents. Trade fairs in China, where companies present their products to a broad audience—including potential competitors and IP infringers—represent one of the riskiest moments in terms of information leaks and product copying. The keynote speaker, Ms. Lisa Lu, IP advisor from the China IP SME Helpdesk, provided participants with practical recommendations on how to effectively protect their intellectual property before, during, and after trade fairs. She also presented real-life case studies from European small and medium-sized enterprises that had faced challenges related to IP rights violations in China.Participants gained valuable insights on how to prepare a protection strategy, what documentation to arrange, what to be mindful of during presentations, and how to proceed in the event of IP infringements. You can watch the webinar recording on the SARIO YouTube channel.
