Slovak-Chinese business forum

On 8 June 2026, the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO), in cooperation with the China Overseas Development Association (CODA), organized the Slovak-Chinese Business Forum in Bratislava.

The event brought together Slovak and Chinese companies from a wide range of economic sectors. The Chinese delegation primarily comprised enterprises operating in the automotive industry, ICT, electric power and energy, agriculture, and financial services.

SARIO's role was to organize the event in cooperation with its partner CODA, present Slovakia's business environment, and facilitate business meetings between Slovak companies and members of the Chinese delegation. The forum was opened by Vladimír Šimoňák, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, and Jiang Yun, Secretary General of CODA, who both highlighted the growing intensity of economic relations between Slovakia and China in their opening remarks.

A key milestone of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between SARIO and CODA. The memorandum was signed by Egon Zorád, Chief Executive Officer of SARIO, and Jiang Yun, Secretary General of CODA, with the aim of establishing a framework for further cooperation in promoting trade, investment, and business linkages between entities from both countries.

The program also included expert presentations focusing on the business environment and commercial opportunities in both countries. On behalf of the Slovak side, Lukáš Merga, SARIO's representative in Shanghai, presented Slovakia's investment and business environment in Chinese. Slovakia's innovation ecosystem was represented by Sensoneo, whose Deputy CEO, Peter Kňaz, delivered a presentation in Chinese on the company's smart waste management solutions and international experience. On behalf of the Chinese side, representatives of CODA and Offshore Investment (Hainan) Co., Ltd. introduced their activities and outlined opportunities for cooperation with Slovak partners. The official part of the event was moderated by Daniel Ondruš, Director of SARIO's Foreign Trade Department.

The business forum was attended by 63 Slovak and 7 Chinese entities. The core part of the program consisted of individual B2B meetings, during which more than 110 business meetings were held. Slovak companies were thus provided with an opportunity to present their products and services, establish new business contacts, and discuss prospects for future trade and investment cooperation with Chinese partners.

The event was already the third Slovak-Chinese business forum organized by SARIO in Bratislava in 2026, confirming the growing interest of both sides in further developing bilateral business relations.
