Another e-mobility player will come to Slovakia

Na Slovensku zakotví ďalší hráč v oblasti elektromobility

Wia Slovakia, a Korean company belonging to the Hyundai Wia Corporation group, has decided to build its plant to produce drive shafts in Slovakia. It will thus strengthen the ecosystem of Korean companies in the vicinity of Žilina, which supply parts to KIA Slovakia, but also to Hyundai Nošovice.

Information about the intended investment reached SARIO at the beginning of 2022 through the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Seoul. SARIO, in cooperation with economic diplomat Michal Bordean, provided the company with information about the business environment and the automotive sector in Slovakia. In the following months, OIP SARIO consulted the scheme of regional investment aid and R&D super-deduction and at the same time identified several suitable properties in selected regions of Slovakia.

Wia Slovakia chose the industrial park in Dolny Hričov managed by CTPark Žilina Airport as the final destination for its operation. The construction of the plant is in full swing. The good news is that, in addition to production activities, Wia Slovakia also plans to create a technology center to develop other prototypes. This brings not only higher added value to the region but also job opportunities for highly qualified professionals.

In total, the company should reinvest more than 58 million EUR and create up to 230 jobs. In connection with this, the company also applied for investment aid. Hyundai Wia Corporation, the mother company, focuses on producing and developing engines, modules, all-wheel drive systems, and drive shafts. It currently has several subsidiaries around the world, namely in Korea, Germany, the USA, Russia, China, India, and Mexico.
