Business Mission to Kazakhstan

Business Roundtable encourages increased trade relations between Slovakia and Kazakhstan

On 21 January 2020, Kazakh Invest and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, in cooperation with SARIO hosted the Kazakh-Slovak Roundtable to discuss economic cooperation between the two countries in the presence of more than 100 government representatives and businessmen from both countries. The delegations were headed by Sungat Yessimkhanov, Kazakh Vice-Minister of Energy, and Vojtech Ferencz, State Secretary of the Slovak Ministry of Economy. More than 80 Kazakh and 24 Slovak businessmen that participated in the event represent growing interest in mutual trade.

The roundtable was organized as a part of the accompanying programme to the 8th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Slovakia and Kazakhstan that was held on 21 – 22 January 2020.

The Slovak companies that were included in the delegation represented mainly the fields of energy, ICT, machinery engineering, defence industry and healthcare. Some participants used this opportunity to invite their current Kazakh trade partners to discuss future development of their cooperation. Colleagues from the partner institution Kazakh Invest were eager to assist Slovak businessmen in providing them with additional information on conditions and current legislative requirements regarding doing business in Kazakhstan. The programme of the event included also consulting with the representatives of the Kazakhstan PPP Center on potential participation in public-private partnership projects that offer interesting opportunities also for Slovak exporters.

During the ceremony, Kazakh Invest and SARIO signed a memorandum of cooperation to exchange information and organise similar events in the future. Besides that, two other memoranda of cooperation were signed between the Slovak electro energy equipment manufacturing companies Engul and Adrian Group and Kazakh energy company Market Solutions and Electric power and energy saving development institute.
