Hunting for investors in Spain

Slovak Agency for Investment and Trade Development (SARIO) organized a business trip to Spain to present Slovakia as an investment destination. Slovak road show in Spain started in Bilbao with investment seminar "Business friendly Slovakia" and visit of the Scientific and Technological Park of Bizkaia.


SARIO presents Slovakia within the project Business Friendly Slovakia, e.g. the advantages of the Slovak business environment, new plans to eliminate administrative burdens, investment opportunities in Slovakia, its labor-market potential as well as the current changes in labor legislation and constantly evolving infrastructure. The seminar was prepared in cooperation with the Spanish-Slovak Chamber of Commerce, the Spanish Institute for Foreign Trade (ICEX), the Chamber of Commerce of Bilbao and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Madrid.


Marcela Torokova, Head of Business Development Department of SARIO explained the benefits of Slovak investment environment. The success story of Spanish investor in Slovakia, company Cikautxo, was presented by Jon Barrainka, Plant Manager in Slovakia. According to him the production plant in Slovakia is the most profitable of all Cikautxo´splants in Europe.


The integral part of Slovak Roadshow to Spain was the visit of the first Technological Park in Spain founded in 1985. Currently the park hosts 220 companies mostly from IT sector, biotechnology and aviation, employing the total of 7, 575 people.


SARIO strives to become a modern investment and trade promotion agency, which will be seen by foreign investors and domestic partners as a vehicle for growth and innovation in the SR. SARIO wants to facilitate the development of Slovak economy by attracting new investment and trade promotion, which would result in new jobs and raising living standards in Slovakia.
