Opening of the new GESTAMP company at Lužianky pri Nitre

On June 27, 2019, in the presence of Francisco Riberas, one of the owners and the President of Gestamp Automoción, the new Slovak plant of this company in Lužianky near Nitra was inaugurated. SARIO has been cooperating with Gestamp since its establishment in the Slovak market since 2016 and its representatives also participated in the opening ceremony.

The arrival of the British car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover to Nitra has attracted this great investment to the region. Gestamp is one of the leading global developers and manufacturers of automotive components. The investment amounted to almost 130 million euros, with around 200 employees working in the plant. The 42,400 square meter company will produce parts and structural parts of the bodywork for the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Nitra, focusing on the Discovery model, followed by parts for the New Defender, whose production is scheduled to start this year.

“It is our largest plant that focuses on producing aluminum components. These components are very important, they form the skin of a car, "said Francisco J. Riberas, Gestamp Executive Chairman of the Board.

“The Ministry of Economy of the SR and the Slovak Government evaluate this investment very positively, as it is not just a car production. This company will be the main supplier for the Jaguar Land Rover, it has also begun to cooperate on the e-mobility and will also produce various components for battery systems – all this is something that Slovakia needs," stressed Vojtech Ferencz, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the SR.

According to the 2016 agreement, when Peter Žiga, the Minister of the Economy of the SR, spoke with Francisco Riberas also about welcoming the expansion opportunities in R&D and offered him the state support for their potential innovation center in Central and Eastern Slovakia, the discussion about another investment of the Gestamp in Slovakia, which could be directed to research and development will begin.
