A business trip of the official delegation of the Slovak Republic led by Karol Galek, the Deputy Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic to the Indiana Global Economic Summit (IGES) in Indianapolis, took place on the 25th – 30th of May 2022. Robert Simoncic, SARIO´s CEO, and  Marek Kopanicky,  Senior Consultant of the Investment Projects Department were part of the delegation.

The IGES 2022 summit has been attended by more than 700 guests and 75 speakers from 30 countries, including representatives of prominent companies such as Shell, Intel, SAAB, McLaren, Roche, Rolls-Royce Defense, and Ideanomics.

The Slovak participation in IGES 2022 has been organized in a connection to the recent visit of Eric J. Holcomb, Indiana Governor, and Bradley B. Chambers, Indiana Secretary of Commerce in Slovakia in March 2022 and their meetings with a number of officials of the Slovak Republic.

Slovakia has long-term close cooperation with the State of Indiana in the field of defense and security and on the basis of a government memorandum signed in 2018, also in the field of economic relations and interconnection of business entities.

In addition to the representatives of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic and SARIO, the delegation included top representatives of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington D.C., the Slovak Innovation and Energy Agency (SIEA), the Slovak Nuclear and Energy Company (JESS), as well as 6 business entities – Inobat Auto, Virtual Reality Media (VRM), Pewas Innovative Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Simplicity, Akular.

The highlights of the delegation's agenda were Deputy Minister Galek's attendance in the panel discussion on "Trade and Investment: Supply Chain Disruption and Connecting the Global to the Local", the delegation's bilateral meeting with Governor Holcomb's team, and the participation of the aforementioned companies in numerous B2B / B2G networking events, organized mostly by Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).

All companies have managed to establish new business relationships, thanks to dedicated events organized by the local clusters Biocrossroads, AgriNovus, Conexus Indiana, and Energy Systems Network, as well as Purdue University, Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy, and other relevant entities. An interest in the investment environment of Slovakia was also expressed in the discussions with several participating companies. After this successful business mission, SARIO is in coordination with other partners ready to continue the intensification of trade and investment activities with the State of Indiana.
