Slovak – Croatian energy sector cooperation

CEO of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Organization Juraj Kiesel welcomed the Croatian delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Croatia Natasa Vujec and H. E. Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia in the SR Tomislav Car.

 

The visit took place based on the outcome of the meeting of the representatives of the Ministry of Economy of the SR with the partner Ministry of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Croatia on 24th of August 2009 in Zagreb, Croatia. The main topic of the discussion was the mutual cooperation in the energy sector that originated from the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the Visegrad Group countries cooperating in the energy sector.

 

Natasa Vujec informed during the meeting that Croatia currently works on the project of the energy security of the country, mainly focusing on the energy carriers storage issues (crude oil, natural gas), but also on its transport and distribution in accordance with the EU rules. “|The European Union requires to have energy reserves for at least 90 days and Croatia currently does not fulfill this requirement,” said the Deputy of Minister of the Ministry of Economy, Labor and Entrepreneurship of the Republic of Croatia and she added that in this sphere there is room for the cooperation of the Slovak and Croatian entities.

 

The first step in connecting the Slovak and Croatian energy sector entities might become the investment seminar planned on May 13th, 2010 in Zagreb, Croatia, organized under the auspices of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). SARIO agency was officially invited to this event.

 

SARIO CEO confirmed the participation of the agency: “We are prepared to offer complex servis to the Slovak companies that have the potential to find their place on Croatian market, especially in the field of natural gas storage construction, crude oil terminals as well as the energy infrastructure. We can also see future perspective in creation of Slovak-Croatian joint ventures that might compete on the third countries markets.” added Juraj Kiesel.

 

The Director of the Foreign Trade Section Patricia Zacikova informed the Croatian guests about the preparation of the 4th Slovak Matchmaking Fair that will take place in Nitra on the end of October 2010. “During this event there will be space dedicated to negotiation and processing of tangible Slovak-Croatian projects in the energy sector”, said Patricia Zacikova.
