On the occasion of the official visit of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet to Slovakia the Slovak Vietnamese Business Forum took place in Hotel Borik with about 80 Vietnamese and 100 Slovak business subjects, while SARIO agency registered about 80 of them.

This event was organized by SARIO and Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry SOPK in the close cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Vietnamese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Slovak – Vietnamese business chamber and the National Agency for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises.

SARIO CEO Juraj Kiesel in his speech at the opening ceremony of the business forum said, that our business contacts with Vietnam very hardly use the current potential and although the export is getting stronger in the last years, we still have negative trade balance with Vietnam. He said: “Vietnam with approximately 86 million inhabitants is a very perspective market and offers opportunities for Slovak businessmen. This event also gives them a possibility to renew a tradition of mutual cooperation that goes back to the times of former Czechoslovakia.”

The fields with the highest potential as for the cooperation with Vietnam are: energy, construction, infrastructure and environment projects, machinery, clothing and food industry, pharmaceutics, electrotechnics, water system industry, IT and services and education.

The participants of the business forum were greeted also by the presidents of both countries – the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Triet and the President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gasparovic signed the agreement on the investment support and protection between Slovakia and Vietnam.
