Location New York The second Invest in Slovakia seminar within the US road show organized by SARIO and the Ministry of Economy of the SR took place in New York City. The event was opened by Peter Burian, the Ambassador of the SR to the USA, followed by a speech by Juraj Miskov, the Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic. Robert Simoncic, CEO of SARIO has focused on the general introduction of Slovakia’s strong sides and possible investment opportunities. At the New York seminar, participants had the pleasure to hear a convincing speech by Carl Spielvogel, former US Ambassador to Slovakia, who shared his experience from Slovakia and expressed strong recommendations for choosing the country as an ideal location for investments in Central and Eastern Europe. There were two presentations provided by partners such as Jake Slegers, Executive Director of AmCham in Slovakia and Ken Ryan, Director of Transaction and Restructuring Division for CEE at KPMG, both highlighting their long time experience with living and doing business in Slovakia. The last presentation focusing on the situation on the financial markets and banking sector in the SR was delivered by Igor Kottman, General Manager of Citi Bank in Slovakia and AmCham President of Board as a specific contribution due to New York City’s character as one of the financial centers in the world. The seminar was attended by around sixty company representatives from various sectors, with strong representation from the financial sector, which was also reflected in the questions asked during the questions and answers session followed after the seminar.
