Matchmaking fair with Austrian sales agents

On March 10, 2022, a Matchmaking fair of Slovak companies and  Austrian sales agents took place in Bratislava. The event was organized by the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency in cooperation with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Vienna, the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK), the Slovak-Austrian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOHK) and the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO).


Within this event, 65 Slovak companies and 22 Austrian sales agents representing companies in the field of metal processing (iron and non-ferrous metal products), woodprocessing sector (wood products, furniture, interior furnishing) and food processing sector (delicacies, healthy eating, beverages, nutritional supplements, catering services) met in the congress premises of the Radisson Blu Carlton hotel.


At the beginning of this event, the speeches consecutivelly sounded by Mrs. Lucie Kišš, Director General of the Economic and Development Cooperation Section of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Juraj Majtán, Director of the Bratislava Regional Chamber of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as Mr. Robert M. Hieger, President of the Commercial Agents Committee in Austria. In their speeches, they all emphasized the importance of mutual economic relations between Austria and Slovakia and also the interest in their further intensification.
Opening part was followed by a presentation of an overview of bilateral economic relations between the Slovak Republic and Austria by Bronislava Chmelová, economic diplomat of the Slovak Embassy in Vienna. Then Mr. Gustav Breiter from the law firm Viehböck, Breiter, Schenk & Nau gave a presentation of the European and Austrian legislative frameworks for functioning of sales representatives. Mr. Christian Rebernig, Executive Director of Sales Representatives from the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, presented the possibilities and tools for finding sales representatives in Austria as partners for entering this market.


Following the presentations, the B2B sessions continued. During this part of the event, more than 100 B2B negotiations took place between the Austrian and Slovak participants, during which the partners at the negotiating tables sought mutual penetrations for business cooperation.
