On Thursday, April 15, 2021, a virtual conference „InnoV4te with Central Eastern Europe“ was held for an audience of the Canadian province of Ontario. The event was organized by the Consulates General of the Czech Republic, Poland, and Hungary in Toronto and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Ottawa.The main goal of the event was not only to present business and investment opportunities in the field of innovation, research and development within the V4 region, but also services of the relevant government institutions and agencies or Trade Commissioners of Canada in each territory, that can help and assist in these matters. Also, the event took place in the context of the current Polish Presidency in the Visegrad Group.At the very beginning of the conference, representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade of the Province of Ontario as well as the Ontario Chamber of Commerce in Toronto delivered their speeches and presentations. The whole event consisted of two parts - presentational and networking, which enabled the establishment of B2B contacts and links between participating companies from the V4 countries and Canada, thanks to the sectoral and national virtual tables.Slovakia presented itself as an innovative dynamic country offering interesting products and solutions, many of which have already achieved significant success also abroad. As a specific example, the sector and companies in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) has been presented, together with several examples of Canadian companies operating on the Slovak market.Slovakia was presented at this event by Marek Kopanický, a consultant of SARIO investment projects department and innovation services lead as well as by Milan Haruštiak, Trade Commissioner of the Office of the Canadian Embassy in Bratislava. The Slovak business environment was represented by 7 technology companies in total.
