Slovak Indonesia Business Forum

As a part of the second meeting of the Slovak-Indonesian intergovernmental commission (MVK) for the economic cooperation in Bratislava, the accompanying Slovak-Indonesian Business Forum with the participation of 12 Indonesian companies and 24 Slovak business subjects took place. This event was based on 30 coordinated bilateral meetings.The Business Forum had been organized by the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency SARIO and SOPK Bratislava Office in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of the SR and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia.Director General of the Commerce and Consumer Protection Section of the Ministry of Economy of the SR Ms. Eva Szaboova informed about the current situation of the Slovak economy and the positive outlook for 2010. “The results of the analysis of the needs of the Slovak and Indonesian market show that the most promising cooperation fields should be energy, machinery, chemical and construction industries,” said the Director of the SARI Foreign Trade Section Ms. Patricia Zacikova. Also March visit of the Minister of the Foreign Affairs of the SR Mr. Miroslav Lajcak to Jakarta stressed big interest in energy, construction and agriculture sector. The State Deputy of the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia Mr. Agus Tjahajana presented current situation in Indonesian industry. He said that in 2008 27% of GDP was created by production sector. The government set up high goals for period of 2010-2014: year-on-year growth of 7% and creation of at least 644 thousand new jobs annually. To reach these goals Indonesia will need large influx of foreign capital. Indonesian businessmen listened to the presentation of Slovak investment and business environment delivered by SARIO Territory manager Marcela Torokova.
