Location
Bratislava

The Slovak Investment and Trade Development (SARIO) organized on the 19th of September 2013 meeting of the governmental officials of the Slovak Republic, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and representatives of business communities from both countries to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the construction of a nuclear power plant in Vietnam. Cooperation in the energy sector is very important for Slovakia mainly in the field of nuclear energy, where Slovakia has rich experience.

The negotiations of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of Slovakia Pavol Pavlis and State Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Le Dinh Tien followed on the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation between the Slovak Republic and Vietnam, organized by SARIO in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy of Slovakia and the Embassy of the SR in Hanoi in April of this year.

The bilateral negotiations resulted in the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Vietnamese company NEAD and Slovak companies JAVYS, VUJE and EKOMET-EU. The platform for the cooperation of partner organizations from both countries is opened in several areas. The representatives of both parties however, agreed that a key priority area remains the energy sector.
