V4 Business Seminar - Post Brexit Investment Opportunities in the EU

On January 16, 2019, the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO) co-organized an investment seminar in Tokyo focusing on V4 countries under the title "V4 Business Seminar - Post Brexit Investment Opportunities in the EU". In addition to the seminar, SARIO presented investment opportunities in Slovakia to Japanese audiences in its stand at the 11th annual World Automotive World Congress and Exhibition for AUTOMOTIVE WORLD 2019.

The V4 Investment Forum, which focused on investment opportunities in the EU after Brexit on the topics of mobility, innovation and R & D, was organized by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Japan together with SARIO and the Hungarian Embassy in Japan and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA), supported by Sumitomo Mitsumi Banking Corporation (SMBC), Japan Institute of Overseas Investment, and in cooperation with the Czech Republic and the Polish Republic Embassies in Japan and their investment agencies - CzechInvest and the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.

H. E. Marián Tomášik, the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in Japan, Vojtech Ferencz, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy of the SR, H. E. Norbert Palanovics, Ambassador of Hungary to Japan and Ichiro Higuchi, General Manager of Americas & EMEA, Global Advisory Dep., SMBC. With the presentation of the Slovak investment environment Business Friendly Slovakia delivered by Róbert Šimončič, CEO of SARIO, he presented also the latest innovative services of SARIO, which aim to optimize the business activities of multinational companies and investors through innovative solutions produced by Slovak companies. The representatives of the other investment agencies of the V4 countries subsequently took part in presentations of the investment environment of Hungary, Poland and the Czech Republic.

The joint event of the V4 countries and their investment and economic environment within the European Union, alongside Brexit, with the emphasis of the V4 countries on innovation, R & D and Industry 4.0, offered an interesting overview of investment opportunities that attracted Japanese participants and brought interesting contacts and perspectives for further cooperation.
